Large African Honey Pot, Tutsi Tribe

£225.00

Large wood honey pot with metal detailing.

Originating from the Tutsi tribe of Rwanda, East Africa, this piece would have originally been used practically to hold honey and other food stuffs.

The pot has a beautiful organic form, carved from a singular piece of wood. The age and patina to the wood is dark and warm, and it’s construction is solid and heavy.

The checkered metal details are handmade repairs added over time, they create a beautiful patterned detail which follows the form of the wood, it also means the pot looks different from every angle.

This piece has wear aligned with its age and use, only adding to its authenticity.

Sourced in the UK.

This piece measures 37cm tall, 16cm wide at its base.
